The Norine Braun Chronicles Reviewed on Indigoindie.com

The Norine Braun Chronicles: Journal of a Grassroots Musician

An entertaining and engaging look at “life on the road” for a working musician. Independent artist and musician, Norine Braun shares her heart and her humour with a refreshing honesty of what it s like to get the music out there in this DIY documentary. www.norinebraun.com
 DuoPoster2014
A pretty cool documentary, indie artist and musician ‘Norine Braun’ takes you on a journey in her life out on the world, and I got to say it works for that behind the scenes like feel. If you’re a fan of music, than this will definitely appeal to you because from start to finish you’ll hear a plethora of music played by Norine as she’s out on tour. If you’re not a big fan, then the main draw and appeal of the documentary may keep you watching, as this documentary takes you on a realistic and down to earth journey throughout the whole way.

You get to learn more about Norine Braun as well as her friends, learning about why they wanted to get in the music biz as well as other aspirations. You get the playing in pubs to playing in festivals and all of the in between, and you also get funny and intimate moments along the way while watching the film. Also worth pointing out is the cool and unique locales throughout the film, one moment you’ll be out in a public place and in the next amongst beautiful mountains performing.
A great watch from start to finish, if you have an extra hour to spare do yourself a favor and watch this down to earth journey from this awesome performer. 3 out of 5.  Enjoyed!

Norine Braun

Pop-acoustic-blues artist Norine Braun has been cleverly crafting and honing her wise and confident musicianship with her newest album Conventus The Eye of the Heart. This Canadian artist bridges the gap between singer/songwriter and a rock-and-roll performer. Blending timeless elements such as rock, Americana, soul, and country, Braun presents these genres to audiences around the nation with a bold freshness.
Norine’s music falls somewhere between the intimate, heartfelt approach of folk, and the energy of pop/roots rock. With comparisons to Joni Mitchell, kd lang, and Patti Smith, Braun’s eclectic approach to songwriting and heartfelt performance techniques are the fundamentals of her solid reputation with her local music scene and beyond. She has received recognition from events such as the LA Music Awards, The Best Female Musicians magazine, and many more!
This hardworking, DIY artist released her ninth studio album, Conventus the Eye of the Heart, which was inspired by the concept of “unions,” something that deeply affected Norine’s life. Vancouver’s finest musicians have once again teamed up to join her on the musical journey for Conventus. The new material on the album is a mix of rhythm and blues, roots rock, and continuous soul at its core. Artsy and fun, thoughtful and savvy, Conventus the Eye of the Heart will zing to the heart of any listener.
According to DJ Motmot from Songplanet, Norine Braun offers an “amazing, diverse and terrific show”. From the Triad Theatre in NYC to Shibuya Home in the entertainment district of Tokyo and to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, Norine pleases audiences nationally and internationally with her jet set appeal and positive demeanor. Much Love and gratitude,

One of the many good things about Norine Braun’s Conventus The Eye Of The Heart is it’s heartfelt lyrics which you can hear on each track of the Canadian singer/songwriter’s latest album. An artist of much acclaim, Norine Braun gives us a good mix of blues, rock, and jazz on Conventus The Eye Of The Heart, which will absolutely be a hit with old and new school audiences alike. It’s opening track, the honky tonk inspired “Lightening Strikes Twice” immediately captures your attention, long enough to steer you to the funky, danceable “Dizzy.” The sharp guitar riffs on “No More Reprise” will have your fingers playing air guitar before continuing onto the reflective, powerful “Boy” where Norine’s lyrical prowess is at its best. This versatile artist, already a veteran of the stage and road, is bound for a big breakthrough with Conventus The Eye Of The Heart. - Rob Perez The Music Universe

"Many can learn from Braun’s story. Her vocals are pierced with the passion of a new union, the freedom of glaring death in its ugly black eye, to new beginnings and to disabling grief. In a time when many are afraid to speak of the white elephant in the room, Norine Braun’s gritty lyrics and loving vocals convey hope and inspiration while helping the listener discover the light even if they had not realized they had sought it."
